PonyGirl had me wondering what song/songs get you out of your chair to the dance floor? This Beatles cover might have been one of my first.

I attended a dance class a while back at a really good YMCA. Very similar to this. This is joyous.......all the participants are families and the parents and kids are dancing together and having fun. I found it very touching. Every community should have something like this, spend family time with your loved ones.......and get exercise.
The cowboy dancing "wearing" his baby was so cute. One of the guys in here is a trucker.
Plus the sense of caring and community AMONG the participants is so great, every race, age, etc. Moms, dads, kids, siblings, neighbors. SO MUCH LOVE IN THE ROOM. Love the guy in the blue shoes and the "immigrant" family. And, yes, there is an 81 year old grandpa in the group.
Phil Wright (out in CA) choreographs and gives these classes, I am thinking of writing a grant to hire someone like this to do something similar here (I've worked on grants/grant writing teams before a so I think I SHOULD do this.

i'm IN babycakes. had my first appt with a nutritionist today and she was impressed i knew the benefits of bouncing around 1st thing in the am. That's wonderful! In japan and china you see all kinds of elderly out in the parks, crack of dawn, doing their tai chi. the idea even w/yoga is that it's important to expose eyes to natural light as soon as you get up.......and also to lubricate all the joints via "movement" so we don't stiffen up which is what leads to injuries from being inflexible, and then inflexibility harms overall balance (how people fall down and break hips). So more important to do these things as we age, not weekend warrior/lifting heavy weights stuff, but just exposure to light and greasing up our muscles. I find that working with exercise bands is very good, too. My joints are too damaged for the gym weights and all that now.

Come Dancing was the bigger hit, but this one from the same album is great:
You look out of your window Into the night Could be rain, could be snow But it can't feel as cold as you're feeling inside
And all of you friends are either married, vanished Or just left alone But that's no reason to just stop living That's no excuse to just give in to a sad and lonely heart
Don't forget to dance, no, no, no Don't forget to smile Don't forget to dance, no, no, no Forget it for a while
'Cause darling, darling I bet you danced a good one in your time And if this were a party I'd really make sure the next one would be mine Yes, you with the broken heart
Don't forget to dance, no, no, no Don't forget to smile Don't forget to dance, no, no, no Forget it for a while
Don't forget to dance, no, no, no Forget it for a while
You walk down the street And all the young punks whistle at you A nice bit of old Just goes to show what you can achieve With the right attitude As you pass them by They whisper their remarks one to another And you give them the eye Even that you know that you could be their mother You do the thing you love the most What separates you from the rest And what you love to do the most? And when they ask me how you dance I say that you dance real close
No, no , no , don't forget to dance Don't forget to dance, no, no, no Don't forget to dance Don't forget to dance
(R.D.Davies)

When you dance Do your senses tingle? Then take a chance? In a trance While the lonely mingle With circumstance? I've got something to tell you You make it show Let me come over I know you know When you dance I can really love

On the Beatles second tour in England, before we in the States had any idea who they were, they were on a bill with Tommy Roe and Chris Montez. As George Harrison told it: "In March we toured with Tommy Roe and Chris Montez, who were supposed to share equal top billing: one of them closing the first house and one the second house for the show. Chris Montez had a big hit, Let’s Dance, and Tommy Roe had Sheila. The Beatles were getting more and more popular – unfortunately for Tommy and Chris. Barking in London was the opening night of the tour and there was a big huddled meeting after the show because Arthur Howes, the promoter, said The Beatles had better close the first half. I think Chris Montez was closing the end of the performance and Tommy Roe the end of the first half. We said, ‘No, no, Tommy and Chris close,’ because they still sounded like big names to us. I remember Tommy Roe getting all uptight, saying, ‘I’m contracted, and I’m going to leave if I don’t close the show!’
I felt sorry for Chris Montez; he was just a little Mexican bloke. He did a slow song on a chair, a Spanish tune, and the Teds were all shouting, ‘Boo, fuck off.’ He said, ‘Oh, you don’t like it, OK,’ and he stopped and put down his guitar and tried something else. It was sad really, but Beatlemania was coming on; ‘Please Please Me’ had been a hit and ‘From Me To You’ was on the way."
George Harrison Anthology
Chris grew up in Hawthorne, CA, in the same area as The Beach Boys. A woman also of Mexican heritage, Olivia Arias also grew up in that area. She later married George Harrison and was the love of his life. "And now you know the rest of the story." I thought maybe Chris had introduced the two of them but I couldn't find any documentation for that.

Hey shoes, I saw Olivia talk on some doc that she and George were in bed when they heard a window (as I recall) break and they heard a burglar downstairs. George went downstairs to confront the burglar and was stabbed to death. But she seemed to be deeply in love with George. George and John met tragic deaths which to this day saddens me. I am a huge fan and Ringo and Paul might live to be 100!
